a weak attempt, here, but hopefully done with tenderness

When Sunlight Falls

When sunlight falls
upon this heart
that beats within,
I know it’s because
you’ve stepped
into my life again.

I know,
for just a little while,
your duty’s done
and your home
can be here
by my side.

It’s strange
how I feel so much safer
when you
are here with me
instead of out there
guarding
the borders.

I feel pride
at your willingness
to serve,
but the heart
and soul of me
rejoices
in the sunlight.

*sigh* soft feelings of safety and love flow in these words. Somehow we do feel safe when we are with the one we love...it must be that there is so much trust in our hearts when we love someone. I love the whole feel of it. Magnificent. **hugs**

What a tender love poem, well written. There is nothing weak about it. I don't think it's possible to write about love weakly.
