forgive me for not smiling
as I would normally do
today is one year
that I lost my Aunt Sue

forgive me for not laughing
with my usual glee
today really isn't
all that easy for me

forgive me for not joking
in my customary style
today I seem to have misplaced
my much needed smile

forgive me for not replying
with my accustomed glee
today my heart is rebreaking
most painfully

forgive for not knowing
exactly what to say
my words seem to fail me
on this grievous day

God keep you and bless you for I know the heartache of losing someone. I know the pain of the finality of it and I pray you remember all the good things, all the wonderful attributes about your Aunt. For in loving, remembering and living we hold that picture of that person for the rest of our lives within our souls and nothing and no one can ever make it fade. It is a picture of their presence in our lives, even now,
and will always give us strength and love.
