this is a repost of my most famous entry...it hasn't be up in more than a year

~For Two...~

i set the table for two tonight
praying for you to show
i was sadly mistaken
to think that you would know
i watched the candles burn
and the roses wilt a bit
then i sat there staring at your empty chair
and i cried in front of it
i had a feeling you would know
to show up here tonight
just to see my face
filling with delight
you never came to the door tonight
or even made a call
i hoped that you would be here
to share this day with me
and maybe even remember
our anniversary...

This poem gives me both great remorse and great joy. remorse for you, and joy that it wasn't me who is gonna get it when he shows up!
