Ears scarred closed,
eyes down turned,
heart heavy, filled with too many
of yesterday's tears.
Futility finds my hands
working overtime to silence the
reverberations.

In times as these,
when just a single uplifting word,
would revive, God breathes
reassuring words into the mind
of one who will give them voice-
You are beautiful (my child).
Don't let anyone tell you
differently.

Embarrassment would hide
my unworthiness, but
appreciation for the voice
of kindness, reaches out
with a smile and the warmth
quickly radiates inward.
All that needs be said now is
thank you.
