If you stay where you are, that is where you will be Rooted, unyielding, unmoving, stoically Standing firmly, root bound, not learning from today No passion, no reason, no flower to display Withered leaves cling to the past refusing to fall Discolored leaves, stunted, earthbound where no worms crawl I have weeded my garden as best as I can I even tilled the soil with my own trembling hands I trimmed back the trees to allow sunlight to show It shines warmly on you, inviting you to grow Stoically suspended somewhere within your mind Weathered and withered, wasting, rotting on the vine Work like money doesn't matter, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching... |

Hi, this is quite interesting, almost a love poem with a large trace of bitterness tossed in. Is that what you are saying? It reads well, and has a very sad feeling. Sandra |

Bitterness? Very likely, I had a "bad" day. It was written because I do not know how people can remain in the same place for years and years being unhappy, blaming the mood swings on PMS and NOT do anything different to make life better. An old friend of mine that I have known for 20 years just baffles me! I have tried to encourage her to be more reflective and in tune with herself but she prefers to watch TV. I have tried to pull her out of her shell but the wall is still there and she claims it is mine. I have loved her for so long I don't know how to walk away. I feel so useless to her. It is like she is an imaginary friend. She just won't move from where she is and it saddens me that she can't see the possibilities. Bitterness? Maybe just my hope fading that she will make a move, any move, in any direction because if she doesn't, she is already where she will be in a week, a month, a year, 10 years. See my point? |
