Scared and alone, I took to your back Afraid to face the world Scarred and afraid, I whispered in your mane Of all my hurts, fears and joys Laughing and exultant, I shouted out "hurrah" When we went running through the field Tickling my hand with your muzzle, I fed you grain Laying my head against your side, I felt your pain And joined in with my tears The vet said it was time to let you go, And so I petted your side, said my last goodbyes Held your head while you slipped from this world And stood alone in the field as the "we" became I Screaming out your name, stregthened by your love But missing it all the same Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go. |
