A Sonnet Not Worth a Penny We should consider monetary change For pennies occupy such precious space It isn’t worth the time to rearrange The copper pennies in their proper place A Wedgwood pitcher, tins, a fish’s tank Fill to the brim with such unnoticed speed I’m always lugging bags bound for the bank With coins of little value, little need The nickel simply aggravates my mind Although it’s worth is just a little more It’s value doesn’t really justify Annoyance of its usage anymore If I may take a bit more of your time May I discuss the value of a dime? A dime is just a worthless blah..blah....... blah....blah..quarter...blah..blah...blah Elizabeth Santos |

I personally thought that it might be worth a few Rubles myself. . . great job Liz. . . ---------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Funny!! Penny for your thoughts... a dime for your time.. a quarter for your trouble.. and the five and ten cent store lies way back somewhere in my memory. Guess it we can' t buy a stamp with it or make a phone call..they aren't much use anymore. |

This is toooo funny!! Enjoyed! You should live over here in Canada where people get a hernia from carrying around all the one and two dollar coins we now have! ~Smiles, Nancy~

Thank you, penny toting Americans and dollar toting Canadians for your remarks. I have long belived the penny and nickel to be useless coins, totally out of date and without value. Oh, well I gotta go count my pennies. See you later Thanks Liz |

Oh you truly made me laugh! Not worth a penny? Hey, we have at Safeway a machine where you dump all your coins in, it sorts, and out spits a slip of paper you turn in for paper money...tell you this, I dumped a bag and it spit out a paper worth $320.20 - try it! Then donate it to the charity of your choice. I was shocked at how much all that annoying change added up to. I figured it an annoyance too, until it turned into enough to buy a swing for a daycare who needed it! Well it's worth spinning your pennies into something useful to help others right? How about the relief fund? Oh I know...blah, blah, blah lol ~Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self~ Cyril Connolly [This message has been edited by Mysteria (edited 09-26-2001).] |
