Sleek, bobbed hair
Black waved and pin curled
to accent the color
Of porcelain skin

A band of silk
With a tiny white feather
Circling as a measure of halo

The smallest pout of red
dotted with a single mark
Of beauty
Just above the right
full of lip

Clear eyes masked
With smokey coal
Lashed
With blackest black

Thin brows arched
Slightly
Giving a hint
Of charming interest

Standing statuesqe
Bearing sunless embodiment
In drapes of beads
Stringing the length of form
Poured over a cat like mold
Jetting head to toe
With a panther chained
In gold
Heeled at buckled feet

A long cigarette holder
Smolders your favorite brand
There is no smile
There is only the stoic pose
Rosewatered to perfection

There is no doubt
You are a woman
Superimposed
of everything
in the 1920’s

oooh I love this ..very  cool poem of imagery Regina....
you painted her portrait for us with your words and captured both her appearance and composure.
this is wonderful writing

You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost in everything I do.
In the sunlight, in the shadows ...
No ... I'll never stop looking for you.

Thank you all so much for your comments on this one!!! I had this image in my head from a gorgeous statue I received. She is truly beautiful and I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been her...except for this statue. So glad I caught her so clearly!
Hugs to all!

Sincerely,
Regina

for a moment, I thought that you might be speaking of yourself. . . back then. . .

a portrait worthy to hang. . .
