Hmmmmmmmm

This afternoon I needed sweet
wanted something which to treat
my taste buds to, delight myself
and took my cookbook off my shelf.

This week I watched a contest win
of Emeril's apple pie of sin.
I printed out the recipe.
Today I sliced and diced for me.

Caramel, hmmm my favorite taste,
pecan nuts and me in haste
to serenade my lips with glee,
of apple pie I made for me.

The shell of dough, with edges pinched
filled with slices inch by inch,
floured, sugared with cinnamon
gingerly, I pressed them in.

The topping, crumbled,  blended too,
including oats, brown sugar, whew
cut in butter, richly so.
This pie began in height to grow.

Then bake I did, not once but twice
as time passed quickly, oh so nice.
My sense of memories began to rise.
I kept on peeking with hungry eyes.

When timer rang, I opened door
never had I seen before
such richness, pleasure, released a sigh
brought out the wondrous delight of pie.

Not finished yet, needs a little touch
the sprinkled pecans, I love so much
and lastly drizzled, came the best
the caramel topping, and then the test ...

Hmmmmm and hmmmmmm and hmmmm some more
Never been sated like this before...
Every sense was filled with pie.
Heard only now, my humming sigh.

I just deleted my  whole response to you..hmm must be those caramel fingers  hitting the wrong key.  This is the perfect time of year for pies..I made the first with an oreo cookie crumb bottom and the second with pastry dough....the recipe is on GoodMorning America's site from ABC..but if anyone wants it I will gladly share.

thanks

hey, where do you live Wynter? I'm coming over for apple pie. This sounds delicious. I really want a piece now. Okay, on second thoughts, I guess ya better not tell us where you live, cause I think we'd all be stampeding your house, and you'd have to bake more!!! lol

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

The poem about
The pie you made,
Was written well.
It made the grade.

But you lack
A stanza, see.
The one about
The slice for me.

No one ever listened themselves into trouble.

You did it the right way. (I, on the other hand, bought a caramel apple pie at the store yesterday) Nothing can beat the great taste of a homemade pie still warm from the oven, not to mention the nice aroma that fills the home.

Sooooo yummy...your poem too

Noah... your responses almost taste as sweet as the pie.  Thank you *s

Tracey...where I live in PA everyone knows me. I wouldn't have to worry about being stampeded, I am a recluse at the moment  plus I keep all my gates locked *s But I would share if asked nicely. And I plan on making several more pies. I may not have much worth to some in other ways, but I do know how to cook *s

Thank you,
~Wynter

Larry C
You are welcome to a piece or a whole pie..just leave a mailing address. Not enough of mine is left and I am feeling rather selfish these days.

The Lonely Stranger..

I baked another pie for me
but this time sliced it into three.
I had a piece when first was hot
a second right after, on the spot.
But one I saved, it's here for you.
Better hurry, 'fore I eat that too. *s

chansondegeste ..well I am sure yours tasted good. I saw them once I bought all my ingredients and felt  kind of cheated that I now had to take  two hours to make something that was there already made. But I also got the satisfaction of several guys drooling over the empty plates as they finished their slices. *s

Rex Allen McCoy,
I hope he gives you strength, it takes all mine not to eat a whole pie by myself. Maybe that's why I had trouble sleeping last night..wondering if I would get the last piece or not.*s
