Standing on my swing
Wonderful memories so clear
Boy flying through air
Reaching for the stars

Golden moon calling me
I'm here waiting child
Come up and play
Feather light you'll be

Breeze cooling my face
I flew and wondered
What's holding me back
From traveling up there

Tree rooted in ground
Ropes tied to it
No that wasn't answer
Something ivisible held me

Can't touch or feel
Was it like love
Mother Earth embracing me
Holding me safely here

What a strange world
For little boy's contemplation
Body held in suspension
While mind flies everywhere

Thoughts soaring past stars
Wishing to go there
Spirit knowing all along
That someday....I will

I enjoyed this poem and the memories it envoked. But what does the part about the ropes mean?

Sir Robert,
I logged many miles flying like this as a young boy. Loved the images of this poem and the fond memories it recalled for me! Thanks.

I absolutely love swings, even to this day I cannot walk past one without a moment of fun. Thanks for letting me fly high again tonight.
