The words took a monstrous form after you left.
Life turmoiled and shook tumultuously
and I was left with just my ability to create again.
The love you said left me wondering my what ifs
and I promised to never love another.
I broke that promise
but it could hurt no one by myself now.
You left me blundering and faltering
looking between the cracks in the sidewalk for my soul
and my faith that I would ever be enough
or that I could never have the love I needed.
It had to be true
since now someone else enthralls me even more than you did,
and it seems I'll never have his love.
not the way I need it
not the way that makes you think forever is caressing your life
with grinning and boisterous fingers.
Life took a different level of meaning after we drifted apart.
That is how it happened, you know.
We drifted slowly as our lives passed on to different places,
and you became another what if
another chance never realized
another unrequieted fantasy my heart lunged after.
Now lessons are repeating
and I pray new love will survive the winter of wait.

Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence.

New love, old love, any kind of love...isn't it the most wonderful feeling of all?    Nice work, my friend.   *hugs*

I liked this line very much, it is extremely descriptive of a place I know all too well.

You left me blundering and faltering
looking between the cracks in the sidewalk for my soul and my faith that I would ever be enough ...

No one ever listened themselves into trouble.

such depth of feelings...My...how love is so
much of our lives and how we feel most every
day.  It shapes us,  sometimes controls us
and can make us feel so many emotions...
Beautifully written...

Hindsight is not a hindrance but actually a step back to find ourselves.
From here there is always forward.

Strengths unbound !!!
