Do you hear the thunder and the crashing? Beneath my weathered helmet The invisible battle Being fought within the borders of my mind. Ancient warriors shoot their poison arrows Silent soldiers blast their cannons Ferocious infantries charge forward As I scan the land for the safety of a foxhole Land mines are everywhere Maneuvers to avoid them insufficient For the bombs dropping from the sky Clouding and destroying close horizons The sky is charged with high neutron activity For even atoms are at war Somewhere in the seismic dust Is a particle of hope Will it be peace at any price? Or won by sweat and blood? |

I abandon hope and sink to the notion that peace is a singular affair. Enjoyed. "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

Now, that battle sure sounded familiar. I've come to the conclusion that Peace on Earth will not come in my lifetime. My 14 yr old says it will never come, humans are basically too stupid and selfish. And yet, I get up each day and walk on the rocky path I think may someday lead to Peace. And that way, I can at least be at peace within my own soul. |

Great write! And no, I don't think "peace" as many dream it, will ever come - two many eyes seeing the same thing from different perspectives, and that magical word - selfishness.... good write my friend. jwesley |
