Chapstick (Answer to Lipstick)
By Larry Chadwick

Manly fingers
Gripped tightly around
A small black cylinder

Clock watching
Until the hour
He no longer has to twist
Time into business

Once out the door
He climbed into his mustang
Turning the corner out of town

Just outside the city limits
He stops to put the top down

Wishing he still had a ponytail
Black locks past his shoulders
A cap will have to do

He pulls it down tight
He grins at his reflection
In the rearview mirror

The black cylinder in hand
With a twist he slicked
His lips in clear color

He floored the pedal spinning
Into the street, headed into sundown
Trysting the vespering wind

His station tuned in perfectly
His heart speeding to the beat
Knowing the rhythm and it’s crescendo

As the miles flew up behind him
The more somatic he became
To his reason for Chapstick

Wondering at the new reflection
That is in his mirror
Another top down in scarlet red

Credit for inspiration and more to rwood

LOL, this is a good one.  Following the lipstick girl, or was she following you into the sunset?

Cool write Larry. I can just picture this scene. That chapstick sure does come in handy eh?

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Midnitesun,
You got the picture. The order of travel really is irrelevant except that my mustang is a GT with a 5.0 litre set of ponies!

Tracey,
And the way things are developing, I'm gonna need it!

Regina,
That was the easiest poem I ever wrote. But I think the Plagerism police are knocking on my door. Good thing I own a little white covertable mustang with a lot of ponies under the hood!

And there really used to be a ponytail that long!

Robert,
It's probably just wishful thinking.

Lady in White,
I'm liking the sounds of this already!
