On a stand beside a large ruffled bed Two rings of gold given as they wed. Rings of love, of faith and of joy These gold rings real, not just a toy. Given to each from the heart and soul with gladness secured as a new bell tolls. A vow of love, a pledge of commitment Two souls became one without resentment. Who ever says not a bond this should be Stand now, renounce and pronounce to me. For now we have joined husband and wife wearing gold rings, not toys, all their life. Through sickness, joy, anger and pain Their loves will be tested time and again. The bond of rings will smooth the ground in front of two whose true love abounds. May each for whom these bells do ring have happiness and joy with everything. Lying together in a warm marital embrace as two rings of eternity remain in place. No, the meter is not there...and I didn’t want it to be. Just wanted to share a few words...and feelings.... |

actually, when the meter isn't there..it sometimes makes one stop and reread a line or phrase, giving it even more impact. I enjoyed this loving poem. ~Wynter "For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. |

Thanks Marge....I woke up this morning...and something said write....Something I feel we who have commitments need to see and not forget....For anger and selfishness can make us do just that. I know....Ihave been down that rocky path myself. Tis not a fun thing to do. |

Thanx Wynter....you are right on target. It does cause you to go back, read it again. Maybe that is the way this one should be. Thanx for your remarks. |

Since Love isn't measured in meters anyway, I like the way it reads now, with a natural flow. It is a very beautiful expression of a loving long-term relationship. At first, it annoyed me that the rings were on a stand, and not on the fingers. Then I remembered a couple whose rings were on a stand because of arthritis and swollen fingers and joints, and it suddenly seemed perfectly natural. Thank you, Magnus. |

This i a really sweet poem... The exchanging of wedding vows... =)) I remembered my Aussie English teacher once told us that a ring used to be worn only by women, coz it's a symbol that she belongs to a man. It's a man's proclamation that "this woman is mine". Though it's kinda male chauvinistic, but it's still rather sweet |

Midnitesun....yes, the rings are there because of circulation, etc. But I never take mine off. Only when I am doing something that I feel is dangerous and I could lose a finger because of it. Happy you enjoyed this. Lou and I have been married for 32 years...a few bumps...but overall very nice. She is a lovely lady. |

Mon Cherie...rings are symbols of unity between two people....though just metal, they mean a lot to me. Thank you for your comments. |
