Land of Never-ending Summers

0 posted 2001-11-03 08:40 AM

I wrote this when I was back home in Singapore for my summer vacation. I was studying for an exam, but I could not concentrate, with sudden apprehension for what's going to happen in the future.

Late at night it was
with cool air filling the empty room
Staring at the lines of words
leaping out at me.
I tried to concentrate.

My eyes shifted to the calendar
as usual
Counting the days
A tinge of sadness filled my heart.

Only one more month
Too little time.
Leaving the warmth of home
family and friends.
For too long.

Time flew past
Too fast.
With happy moments
etched deep in memories.

Soon I'll be sitting alone
looking through the windows.
Clouds so beautifui
Just outside -- within reach.

Fighting a lonely battle
With courage borne from desperation
strength from stubborness.
Hope found
to reach new heights -- stretching the limits.

Winning the battle
A must.
To conquer new grounds
Reassess my capability
Renewing my hope.

You did a great job with this! I can feel the sadness in your words, and at the end your hope does shine!

A wonderful way to give yourself a pep talk.  We all need one now and then.  Nice write.

I got a little confused while reading this, but maybe it's just me. It's nice, but what's the calendar got to do with anything?
what is the person waiting for? I think I need a brain transplant, I'mnot getting anything today!

Oh.. I wrote it when I was home for my summer vacation. I was studying for an exam at that time, but I couldn't concentrate, coz I kept staring at the calendar thinking of the number of days left before I have to leave for Australia again....

That's what the calendar's about. This is juz a poem about my feelings, no metaphors or anything. I guess I haven't tried using them yet. I seem to be very literal about what I write. :P

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Mon, I know how hard it must be to leave so many loved ones behind for a while, but I know deep down everything will be OK and you will havea wonderful lovely time in Australia, then soon you will again turn home, and think of all the happy stories you'll share with all your friends when you're there! (smiles) God Bless You, sweet Mon, we all love you so very much! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

There is nothing like renewed hope, is there?  Nicely done.

by the grace of God.
