Land of Never-ending Summers

This I wrote when I was just about to leave for Australia, and I was unable to attend my graduation ceremony back at home...

It seemed like yesterday
when we were sitting side by side.
Drooling over cute guys
during our short break time.

Only yesterday
when we whispered to each other.
Tales of our crushes flowing between us
like the love we felt in our hearts.

You consoled me,
my head on your shoulder,
and you mended my broken heart.

It seemed like yesterday
when we hugged each other.
Ecstatic we were,
to be amongst the elite class.

Only yesterday
when we stood shoulder to shoulder.
Confronted our class
with radical methods of presentation.

We walked together,
heads held high.
not letting anything stand in our way
praying for the success of our plans.

Then you listened to me
as I poured my heart out.
Why didn't things work out
the way they were supposed to?
Where did we go wrong?

Now, we are leaving.
Why do we have to grow up?
Do we really have to leave?
Is graduation the beginning
Or the ending?

Friends I could not bear to leave,
But I need to go.
Away from home,
I missed ALL of you.

How I wish I could be there.
How I wish I could be a part of it.
The glory you must have enjoyed
marching up to get your Diploma.
How could I miss it?

But was it a blessing in disguise?
For have I been there,
I'd have cried
tears of happiness and sadness
gratitude and unwillingness.
For all the times we spent together
old friends and new ones
we built a strong relationship.

And I just couldn't bear to leave.

Graduation is indeed a bittersweet moment - It's also probably the widest open door in one's lifetime - You say it well, Mon Cherie...

Oh yes the stresses that are thrust upon us as changes sometimes seem out of our control...this reminds me of many years ago when I took my girlfriend to the senior prom and about three weeks after gratuation she moved away...James

(sigh) Soooooo sad but beautiful, sweet Mon! (sigh) I know this feeling ever so well, and I am in my senior year of high school and I am anxious in waving goodbye to my teachers, for they are the only other friends I have than you and all my friends at Passions and Mutingtons Meadow! (sigh) Always follow your loving heart, and you will see them again I'm sure! (kiss on cheek) We all love you, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
