A Mother’s Frozen Tears

The sadness of a woman
Yearning to be a mother in her eternal sleep
Dreaming and silently singing
A song of life
And what a beautiful voice she has
A song that carries throughout time and space
Finally falling upon the slumbering ears of an omnipotent Being
The sleeper has awakened!
Father of all that is
Creator of life and consciousness
Hearing the cries of a distant child
Smiling upon her as one of His most loved
And as a Father is apt to do
He grants His daughter that dreaming wish
With a wave of a hand
And the power of a thought
The universe twinkles to life
As the heavenly bodies heed the voice of their Father
But one has stirred for a different reason
It is the childish affection of a flowery breeze
That awakens Mother Earth
Yawning from an ageless sleep
Her eyes, the color of the deep blue sea
Slowly focus to absorb her surroundings
The answer to her dreams
And she knew this was daughter Spring
The sweetest and most adored of all her children
Spring, whose presence signifies the beauty of life
A special kind of beauty that thaws out the deepest cold
Complimenting a peaceful essence rivaling only Heaven
But as beauty so often does
She vanishes without being seen
Leaving behind tears of sadness
As a warm but temperamental breeze
Embraces His mother with a fiery love
Mother Earth lovingly returns the embrace of her son, Summer
Whose presence brightens the sky
And saturates the air with the waters of life
Feeding Mother Earth
With a habitat of lush greenery
But a strong jealous wind chases away Summer
Not wanting to share the love of her mother
Fall has arrived
And her presence causes the trees to bow
And the leaves to dance in celebration
A colorful display of greeting to the mother of all
Oh! How wonderfully delightful to the eyes she is to Mother Earth
As the dancing leaves drape her in the luxurious coat of Autumn*
Reminding Mother Earth to give thanks to the Great One
Harvesting the fruits of her labor as an offering
While gently rocking her daughter, Fall, to sleep
Singing a sweet lullaby of promise and hope
But suddenly, a strange sensation overcomes Mother Earth
A chill that threatens her very embodiment
An icy touch that reaches the core of her existence
Slowly returning her to that eternal sleep
As Fall slips from her mother’s loving hands
Becoming tear drops of ice
Descending from the sky
Before cruelly being blown away by a cold harsh wind
That smiles upon His Mother
Piercing her heart with icicles of love
Adorning her feet with frozen shackles of contempt
A forgotten child can be fickle at times
And as Mother Earth slowly succumbs to the will of Winter
She now reflects upon her son
Perhaps angry at being the last born
Or maybe his expression of love has an ultimate purpose
A love that only a Mother and child can understand
Mother Earth then smiles
Seeing the irony in her thoughts
While Winter freezes time and a dream
With a final kiss
As Mother Earth awaits the return of her first born

Marcel

Interesting tale of the seasons! A good read, the begining reminds me of the tale of Persephone.

Oh, this is beautiful!! Chris

This was so intricately done to weave the seasons with color and imagery, beautifully done.  I really enjoyed this one and off to my library it goes.
