Suffering from chromatic aberration,
bouncing wavelengths of light off dark,
a rainbow spectrum in disarray,
day fading to night,
blended non-synchronicity,
frightening duplicity.
I cover my eyes and look away
from the darkness that surrounds me
every waking day and  sleepless night.
I've lost my magic flashlight too many times.
From now on, I will keep it in my shirt pocket
closer to my heart,
to guide and lighten my perilous pathway
past the tombs with outstretched hands,
souls reaching out with pleading eyes,
begging for truthful answers,
not more layers of lies.
But the only answer I have is the one
my heart was born with from love's passion.
Only unfettered love and unbridled compassion
yield enough bright light
to guide a heart safely home
each day and night,
and shield one from
chromatic aberration.

Love that line about the magic flashlight.  I enjoy reading poetry that is original, such as this one. Thank you.

I love the vocabulary you have used to create the vivid imagery and express the  depth of emotion...
this is a very cool write MS
well done

This distance has shown how the road remains alone
Now I'm looking in my life ... for a truth that is my own.

Lady, thanks for reading this. The title seemed a bit awkward to me at first, but not the poem itself. Glad you liked it.

JM, thanks! It always pleases me when my words and imagery please you.

Startime, yes, I seem to need that magical flashlight every day lately. I almost titled the poem the magic flashlight, but left it with the thought that sparked the idea.
