She sips from the deepest of wells,
crystal cool thoughts soulfully
filtered through the murky turbidity,
layered moments of life bubbling to the surface
in fractured prisms,
reflections somehow remaining whole,
revealing more than parts alone,
bits and pieces joined together,
a patchwork unique,
design so quietly bold only
sunglasses can hold back
the light, to dim the
scenery cold yet burnt,
from a heart spitting warm fire
onto sheets of chilled hearts,
needing to be warmed,
and as the frost of death bites,
new buds of life lie dormant
in fertile soils
waiting for spring.

Midnite(Oh Scholarly One),
Inspite of the fact I had to go find my dictionary, I got the picture you were painting and I liked it. Turbidity?

Ohh, what a beautiful tribute to one deserving such   And what an honour to have someone know your poetry so well...you are both two beautiful souls with much talent to share.

Hugs,

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.
Thank you for having the courage to share yourself so that I can too

Larry, yes, turbidity. LOL at that scholarly comment.

Smitten, thank you. I hope she will like this portrait. I tried to portray the  depth of this poet, knowing my words would be, a best, a tiny glimpse of the real Alicia.

Greeneyes, Thank you. Our Spitfire really is like a unique patchwork quilt, and heirloom.

What a wonderful poem for her. She is indeed a talented lady, as you show. But then, so are you. It always amazes me, the talent found on these pages, and there is much of it.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Dear Kacy,...gosh, I can't force myself into believing this poem was written about me?,...I, maybe I'm wrong, oh golly, wouldn't that be embarrassing. I just popped in to the site between classes and work, and,...you should just see me now, glowing, warmed, and so totally touched that you would take any bit of notice in me, (if it's me that is lol). I just, wow, thank you. You dear. The words you've constructed will stay with me. - As do every one of your sweet replies to my writes. Thank you for reading me, and in the way that you have. - Uhm, wow. Are you sure? *Peace and love and all those glorious things I reach for. ~Alicia.

Really good write, and almost sounds like one of her poems, same kind of interesting and special feel.
Much enjoyed, and love to you and SF too.

SpitFire, I tried very hard to paint a small portrait of you, the poet I have come to look forward to reading each time I see your name. I was a bit shaky at first in posting it, not knowing if you would accept it as being at all YOU. But if you see a bit of yourself in this, and I have captured something of the essence of Alicia, then I am totally pleased. Thank you for being such an amazing inspiration, for being you.

Sandra, thank you ! I feel this is one of my best poems, as I have done what I set out to do, though not perfectly, to offer a mini-portrait of our SpitFire. I had considered making the title Guess Who?, but I'm not brave or confident enough yet to assume someone would have guessed based solely on the feel, the words, and the choice of style. It would have been interesting to see how many (if any) would have made the match had the title been different. Thanks for reading, and seeing her in the poem.
