For you I checked for monsters under the bed
when I wanted peas....I made corn instead
For you I switched the t.v. to cartoons from the news
and ran to the store for the newest Blue’s Clues

For you I coaxed the snarls out of your hair
I was silent when you chose what you would wear
For you I walked for hours in the mall
and came running whenever I heard you call

For you I would stumble through the dark
On the sunny days we’d play for hours at the park
For you I’d sing "just one more song" before you slept
and soothe away each fear as you wept

For you I turned our home into a zoo
And when you forgot....I fed them all for you
For you I named the clouds as they went by
Then patiently explained each and every "Why..."

As I sit tonight and flip through the things I’ve done
Remembering the reasons for every single one
The memories dance brightly for me to see
The things I did cannot compare with what you gave to me~

Dedicated to the angels that God gave me to love
~Katrina & Matthew~

I don't have kids, but I can see how they have enriched your life. Beautiful poem on your thoughts of them.

Oh, this is fantastic! It is the epitome of unconditional love, and the kind of memories to keep close to your heart. And then let them read this when they are old enough to truly understand.

ButterfliesDon'tCry~ Awwww! This is so beautiful.  I'm only 19 so no kids yet, but I can appreciate this poem as a daughter, knowing that my parents did all the things you described....this poem is a perfect tribute to the unconditional love of parents, and the gratitude which kids often don't yet have th voice to express.  Just beautiful poetess    You've made my heart smile tonite.

Hugs,
~Krista

Your beautiful words & creativity allow me to connect with the same in myself.

Thank you all for reading, it was one of those moments that a mom just has to share her thoughts, and it's always a pleasure to do so here among friends~

This distance has shown how the road remains alone

Holly, this is so touching, what a beautiful poem    When they are older they will realize all that you've done for them ~ they are lucky to have such a dedicated mother like you!
I'm going to share this with my mom

Take care,

Thank you once again for sharing this mom moment with me, Katrina is 10...going on 17 I think   and Matthew is 5...turning me into 105
I think that children give you more happiness than you've ever felt in your life and at that same time give you the biggest worries of your life...because you know someday you won't be there to make the decisions for them...and the ones that you make now turn them into the adults that they will grow up to be...you can only hope to do your best.
Thank you again for reading, I know I haven't been doing my share lately and hope that life will slow down a little so that I have the time to enjoy this place like I used to.
My love to all of you!!

Love this one, I have too little ones that are such blessings. When you do things out of love you don't even notice sacrifices, is all worth it.

Last year, I bit my tongue when my youngest child decided he wanted to wear sweat pants, cowboy boots, an old tshirt, burger king crown and a leather bomber jacket to school.  It was so hard to keep my mouth shut, but he was happy.  Who knew motherhood would test us in so many ways?  Loved this one!

Oh, my butterfly kid, this is sssooo true and I know the feeling very well!  No matter how long ago they were little, it will be the same.  These two will always have a special spot in my heart just as their MOM has.  Love every word and you always liked corn better than peas!!
