the road is littered
with broken bowls and buddhas
flung in bits from cliffs

I don't usually annotate poems... In Tibet (while the Dalai Lama was still there) when a Tibetan monk died the body was often dismembered and thrown over a cliff.
During the act of dying bowls were used to hold the spirit during its transmigration.

Fascinating image, with or without the annotation.

Interesting...I read a book that said that the Dalai Lama and about 150,000 Tibetans are refugee's in India...some even believe that Steven Seagal is a reincarnated Chung-rag Dorje.  The Chinese government is not sympathetic to Tibetan religions nor to the Falun Gong.  I believe Li Hongzhi, the supreme deity of Falun Gong is living in New York now...James
