Lady, once you waited,
your face wrinkled,
an afghan wrapped around your bent,
broken legs
as your hands
pet your imaginary kitty.
Your eyes looked up for the door to open-
Once blue as the heavens, now gray
and watery…
“Is anyone there?”

No, it’s simply the night nurse
with your medication.
The pill that brings sleep so
that you do not mark the
moments of time that pass..
Your life passes but you
are not living it.  In your mind,
you remember once,
a very long time ago when
you had hope.  The hope
that someday, someone would
remember you.

I remember you.

I loved you more than anyone
in the entire world.
I knew your suffering, your
agony.

I begged to come. I screamed
to come.
I had no control.
Did you think I had forgotten you?
Lady, you, my sweet one, I never
forgot you.

Open your eyes now, please
go on and open them.
There!  See?
Look into the reflection
of yourself!

I am standing in the door
with a bouquet of fresh
flowers, carnations, your
favorite.
I brought your favorite
handkerchief. you know
the one with your initial
in the corner.
Here, let me wipe your mouth.
Don’t be embarrassed, you may drool
all over me, I do not care!

Come, take my hand, see,
you are no longer
doped, no longer crippled
and your skin is
not yellow, but fine
porcelain cream!
Your hair has returned,
it is a crowning radiance!
You have no need for this
steel prison
and I have no need for my
invisible bars, any longer.

Together, we will live, laugh
smile and be strong
and no one, no one
will ever keep us apart again!!

You wait, you wait and I will be there.
I will recite to you the words
that you endowed within my heart
and spirit and you will know
that I never, ever forgot you.

-befriend yourself and you will never be alone-
Anna

Dear Lady...your mother knows, she hears your heart with every beat.  She realizes all of your hurt, and you only think you cannot be soothed from the pain you feel, but she IS there, trying desperately to tell you that it is okay, that she understood more than you shall ever know...

and she is no longer in any discomfort or pain...

neither does she want you to be.

Thank you for this sharing of your heart.  I am so pleased you have taken to Passions so warmly...it is a place where you will find much healing spirit...

Lady Of Shallot, I never got to say good-bye to my mother either, and I feel your pain. But, I know in my heart of hearts that your mother knows how much you loved her and still love her. She is with you always. Very touching piece. Chris

There is no doubt that you and your mom share a special connection, it is felt in your words.
I am certain she knows more of you than you realize, and shares the moment to unite.
You show great depth and caring in this piece,
may eternal peace be with you both always.

Dear one, it is also the love you are writing out. You will never stop writing how much you love her therefore you will never stop writing how hard it is to be without her. My heart goes out to you, dear one.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Well it takes a lot to get a tear from me as I have felt too much pain in my life I guess, but this did!  I see people like your Mom every day when I visit my older friend Maggie, and I often wonder if they hear me when I speak to them, and now because of your poem I will stop and talk to them just a little bit longer.  Thank you for this, and feel comfort in knowing that she knows.

Try giving your smile to someone who does not have one, and I bet you'll find another ~*~ Mysteria ~*~

This is a very moving piece. It is so hard to see someone we love in these circumstances. I lost my mother a few years ago very suddenly to a brain aneurysm and much as I hated to lose her so young (52), I was grateful that she didn't suffer. But I never got to say goodbye.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

The emotions within me upon reading your lovely poem I can not put into words.  Know that a mom so close as you and she is a gift to be cherished...always.
Smile for I know she knows of your love, as your poem so said...the love floweth over and no way can she miss it.

I felt this.....sadly with tears.  The pain does lessen with time, I know this well.  Your writing will help heal your spirit, and passions will be here for you.
