Stale bread annoyed her crave Slipping into boots and tugging the fit Grabbing her Old Faithful cardigan She slung her purse in two step down the stairs The heavy door spun a cold kiss of air She hugged herself warm against its surprise Leaves scurried like mice across her path The clack of her leather heels shooed them The corner deli was her temple of bread Bidding hello to Old Mr. Fetherall, faithfully He knew which loaf to choose, stalling the wrap, wishing 30 years would slide away As the door swung in tinkle of shop bells In ran the mice and the smell of fresh rolls A large man entered in with upward collar Mysterious as the waft of yeast rolled in sugar Icing her sweet tooth she asked to purchase Sadly there were none to be had in late of day Mr. Fetherall could stall no longer As Bronte was warming over the floor furnace grate How the stranger smiled her way, swaying her How the scent of cinnamon rose into her emotions She made a secret resolution, as she turned to walk away, To sometimes speak to strangers. ( smiling) As enticing as the aromas... I had several thoughts on this one.... andit led me to wonder about the underlying motivation for the write... sending my mind into the spiral of story telling of a tale I really knew not...still...intriguing my inner thoughts with the strangers effect on the author... perhaps...... no.... I will keep those thoughts to myself... ( chuckling) Very nicely done as usual...and a pleasure to ponder... |

Dear Regina, it has been a few quiet weeks for me, I have written odds and sodds but nothing to submit to my poetry friends. You have become a writer of many qualities Regina, you open our eyes to imagery, motion pictures as yet without sound, filling in each peice one by one, then keeping us guessing as to the plot, the ending or continuation. This was a warming piece, I can smell and taste the goods on offer, I can see the smile of the stranger and feel the desire to let down the guard and speak, share without fear. ((((Great work))))) Leaves scurried like mice across her path ( I loved this piece . Keep up the great work Regina, I hope to send something soon. Sincerely Rick |

The detail and imagery so precise, and the message, open and curious. Continuously enjoyable! Willie B [This message has been edited by WRBreezin (edited 10-17-2001).] |

This was of course just excellent! I read to seniors, and woulded if it would be okay to print these all out and use them for a reading at our poetry readings Regina? I hope there will be more of these, and I will also print all the "spinoff" that come from your Bronte series as well, as I already read to them other poets from Pipps. Thank you so much. ~I always have time to listen to someone talking from their heart~ |

I'm wondering if, instead of being a "Stranger" to Bronte. . . if you're actually. . . a "friend". . . wonderfully done Regina. . . every day, I find something new to like about your work. . . ![]() -------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Sven: I'm starting to wonder too! Perhaps just a glimpse of someone special. Perhaps a mingle of all those special in my life...I'm enjoying her visit still. Thank you dearly. Noah: So glad you visited my verse. Wouldn't be the same without your loving reply! May that light always shine your way! Sincerely, Regina |
