Captain Samuel Bellamy Pull up a chair and listen awhile while I tell you this fine tale What gave Samuel a pirate's smile was the life he chose to sail Just a young man so the tale is told with dreams of sunken treasure Left his family for jewels and gold thinking of his own pleasure Maria Hellett he then courted a young girl he left alone Not knowing his plans would be thwarted Florida, by ship, he'd flown Spanish gold he just could'n seem to find causing him to change his plans Black Bellamy, the pirate he signed taking ships with evil hands He had plundered more than fifty ships, the Whydah his biggest prize With his flag ship he made many trips, a fortune filled greedy eyes While heading homeward his fate was sealed in forty foot waves off Cape Cod The sea refused, Samuel, to yield putting him in the hands of God Karen Torbiak 2001© Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams. |

Thanks for this one, I knew nothing about this rascally pirate. A very well woven tale, straight from the seas of poetry. |
