Footsteps

Upon the cooling sands he walks.
Each footstep one less he will know.
He eyes the waves in search of peace,
as setting sun casts crimson glow.

He longs to have the one he wants,
but knows that it can never be.
Dark-tanned and graying, he’s still strong,
this man that looks out on the sea.

His life will never know her touch,
or feel the passion in her rise.
If only he could hold her hand,
one moment gaze into her eyes.

Each word she speaks, a treasure kept.
Her name, he will not let be known.
He walks into the falling day
and knows he’ll always be alone.

And as he slowly walks into the sunset
Let him feel the warmth of her gaze
In the southern skies
And know she sees
that is where
love lies.

Michael, do you see
what your tender, kind words
inspire in me?

Michael,

This took my breath away.
This was so very sad in its longing.
I could feel the ache. Excellent display
of emotion!!

Take care hon.
