Withering Soul The smoke rises from my withering soul They parted my ribs and for a couple of minutes I died Gobs of pnemoia developed inside me I could burn the house down while we sleep It turns my lungs inside out It makes my sinuses spout It stains my fingers, ceilings and walls My eyes produce reluctant tears All this and I care not I want what I want And that’s what I’m getting My health says I must quite Why do I put myself through so much hell The truth is I have a selfish addiction Do I have the resolve Can I do it? That is the plan. I have dreams and goals that will help me attain them I’m growing to like and then love myself more each day I’ve got the patches and pills and the gum and the inhaler. I’m going to be a nicotine sailor I’m going to sail to a crystal clean beach called health Then it will be time to make amends Throw your heart out in front of you |

Ahoy there mate! I'm afraid I will be the titanic. I am fighting daily! I really understand the addiction. I confess, I'm not a nice person without the daily dose. Which only makes it ten times harder for me. I strongly support you in your decision. I just hope I can make it too someday. May you have swift winds at your back! Sincerely, Regina |

This is great Shadow, I do understand your addiction. I decided to quit a little over a month ago and I've had my ups and downs. Most of the time I am up  The way you have expressed yourself here, I believe you will do it and stick to it too ! Maree |

Virginia, thanks for the thoughts, and yes, I can. I set the date for Aug.13 mainly because thats the time I will have the most support, ever bit helps. Regina, Thanks. You can do it and even if you have a set back then you can start over. RSWells, thanks, the undesirables are the illnesses that smoking is causing and I am truely sick of being sick. Maree, great, it's always good to here an incouraging word, so many people have suffered because I smoke. It's a selfish habit an it's time for a change. Sven, yes I can. You've "seen the light", Dan -- the fact that you're addicted; you've expressed a distinct desire to quit; you're doing something about it... as long as you stay strong and don't succumb to the habitual patterns you've engrained, you're definitely on the path towards that "crystal clean beach".
