I’ve met the morns of winter, their cold and dreary days I’ve dreamt the coming of the spring and all her special ways I’ve seen the gardens painted in the greys of natures brush I’ve watched the skies of cloud and rain and time to slowly rush I’ve waited for the sunshine and its warmth to fill my heart I’ve waited for the buds of spring and beauties joy to start I’ve watched the jonquils as they teased to tempt me with their bloom So longingly I’ve dreamt of days, of spring to come by soon Now sunshine from a dawn of new, upon this night does creep As springtime brings its gift of warmth to waken those who sleep The garden waves good morning, in a breeze of new and sweet The dream I’ve dreamt for months on end, today I’m sure to meet I’ve longed the colours many and the fragrances so fresh The feel of nature in my heart and sunshine on my flesh The fields of green, wild flowers which flirt to look their best Some peace of mind, some joy to find, some time of love and rest Where one could seize a minute, or an hour or a day Just nestled in the caring arms of nature and her way Amidst the paths that guide the way to longing and retreat Where rabbits in their time of play, all run in grasses sweet The day’s not only brighter, but longer seem to stay A season we all cherish, but one that fades away A time that we all bask in, as long as we all can A time of year we’re blessed with, a gift from God to man It’s a season filled with colour, with life that seeks the sun A time that gives us vigour and the zest to try and run Where stars are bright at evening, and daylight sun is clear A time of beauty worthy, which comes but once a year |
