I sit alone, in still of night, in quiet contemplation, Reflecting on a past gone by, of trials and tribulation, While muralled "Justice" from above, sounds forth her solemn vow, Echoing on courtroom bare, as walls hear silence now. The Southard County Courthouse, within its hallowed halls, Where's the sounds of justice, as wooden gavel falls? Limestone mausoleum, standing tall against the sky, Built in the depression, why did the children die? Mark and Micheal Anderson, thrice birthdays they had seen, Young twins and Susan Williams, would not see Halloween, Far away from hearth and home, the earth it did bleed red, Out amongst the creatures wild, all three on ground lay dead, In silence of the evening wood, roared forth the hounds of hell, Twelve guage shotgun to the head, and then the babies fell, He was just a common thief, who knew what lived inside? Evil without conscience, and then the parents cried, Court was held, a verdict rendered, to prison he was sent, Life times twelve for killing three, and so the sentence went, Fifteen years have come and gone, since innocence was killed, Remains within soul's blackened void, why God, was child's blood spilled? Some answers we will never know, some questions we can't fathom, And so tomorrow, to work I'll go, in limestone mausoleum. [This message has been edited by Mike (edited 07-18-2001).] |

Nothing worse than the untimely and senseless deaths of children. Being the father of twins I can't imagine the grief. An eerie write. |

"hushed silence" You have just amazed me. AGAIN. It's so hard to write the deeper inner works, but so important to do so. With one poem? You have trivialized all my worries. I do thank you. ![]() |

There's no doubt in my mind that you're in the perfect place, Your Honor... You surely judge with a wonderful combination of wisdom, propriety, and sensitivity. I'm grateful that you sometimes vent your feelings on particular cases here... It gives us a true sense of life's realities.... Thankya, my friend... ![]() |

Your Honor...it is not an easy position you have placed yourself in, by want of need to make things right, but I for one, Sir... am glad to know Justice resides in your heart. And I am very glad you have Passions for a place to relax, and release. We are all the more fortunate for it. |
