The Moreton Bay fig tree is like a symbol of serenity In this place of no voices and no living beings I come here to grieve I cry throughout the journey as I travel along the winding road to be nearer to you I come to lay flowers at your grave The stillness of this place sometimes frightens me Until I hear the joyous sounds of the birds I watch the colored windmills as they catch the breeze And see the withered, dead flowers amongst the bright colors of the newest offerings I walk the long stretch of grass to your graveside under the tree My mind knows you're not really here But my heart reaches out in an effort to be closer to you I know you're really up with the angels brightening up heaven with your radiance and your love I know you're waiting patiently for me to join you But for now I draw comfort in knowing your spirit lives on in each flower within the birds as a part of nature in the breathtaking sunset and......in me Suetang |

It is wonderful that you have not bound the spirit into an empty shell but you have elevated it to a place of singing, beauty, and everlasting joy. |

I feel the same things when I go to the cemetery. I do it for me I guess and not for the people I've lost. It somehow makes me feel closer to take flowers and stand by the graves remembering. Beautiful poem. Betty Lou Hebert |
