When Americans die
America's heart breaks.
All traitors beware,
The giant awakes.

September eleven
Will in history, be
Worse than December 7
For vile infamy.

In God and each other
Americans trust.
With a howl of reprisal,
We rise from the dust.

The deserts can't hide you,
Your hills or your vales.
Wherever you slither
America trails.

You brought your poison
To our beloved land.
It's your turn to tremble,
Together we stand.

You thought we were weak
When we squabbled like brothers.
We quickly unite
When preyed on by others.

An attack upon one
An attack upon all.
The UN's behind us
To hasten your fall.

It's no use to run
There's no place you can hide.
You sealed your own fate
When Americans died.

I noted with great sadness a thought that I am sure did not cross my mind alone - after Pearl Harbor, most of America had to rely on witnesses' first hand accountings of how bad the attack on Pearl Harbor really was.  Those in the United States relied only on words to envision in their mind the brutality of the attack by Japan.

Not so with this invasion.  No media crew or cinemascopic artist will ever be able to recreate the horror that was witnessed first hand this most terrible of times. And I would not want them to do so. I have seen enough to last me a lifetime, and then some.

Thank you for this, Joyce.  As you said, the poems will NOT cease...

Joyce:  Well stated and I'm sure most of us feel this way.
