In the space between moments

Portrait of a Supermodel

Tender, flushed lips
Poised in sexy certainty
As the camera flashes-
Green-gold eyes fall
Into a luscious, dreamy abandon
~And in this moment~
She becomes a goddess.

Hours fade, sun softens
Into chilling quiet
And the bright lights dim...
Icy wind flies through
Rolled down windows
~As Alone~
She drives herself home.

Looking in the mirror now
She sees herself
~Stripped~
Of the falsified glamour...
Blue-black half moons
Rest under weary eyes,
And the protruding angles
Of her tiny body
Reflect the pains
Created by self-starvation.

The cocaine, the parties-
All the delirious highs
Only leave blood, scars,
And crumbling dreams
For a goddess
Falling hard into the shadows.

A nicely written, cynical portait I'd say.  Especially enjoyed the line:

"Blue-black half moons
rest under weary eyes,"

That fall from the first verse to second was brutal as fantasies were stripped from us and we see the true supermodel. And to think so many girls aspire to that supermodel body, there's no beauty in that starved frame, in the falsities that she has to live.

Wonderful writing, delving write into the grit of the supermodel horror. It rasps the popular image. Much enjoyed, my talented love.

The title caught my eye and I tripped at the same place DT did....I love poems or prose that lead you down a road you think you know where it is going and then all fo a sudden you are somewhere else...you did it very smoothly.

Wow - Krista what a powerful and sadly stark reality for many models and women~
Well expressed as always.

(tears fall down my cheeks) So very heartaching and sad, sweet friend, my heart cries out to this poor supermodel and all the peer pressure she has fallen into and I pray in time she will heal and become her old self slowly again! (kiss on cheek) So sad but wonderful, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Krista, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
