~A Wise Man's Tale~

I met a man the other day
He had a tale to tell
of wealth unmeasured, moments treasured,
and coins tossed in a wishing well

of magical places and friendly faces
and joy beyond compare
I couldn't help it, I had to ask,
"Sir, how do I get there?"

I listened as he spoke to me
in voice of gentle knowing
and what I heard that fateful day
has helped me in my growing

He said, "My boy, there's more to life
than living day to day~
just going through the motions
doing things the easy way

Some may say that happiness
is found in currency
I say, my boy, that's not the case
a heartfelt joy is free

All the money in the land
won't buy one friend today
True wealth can be obtained
by simply giving smiles away

And happiness is found within
a heart open to share~
in reaching out to other folks
to let them know you care

Now you can take those coins of yours
and toss them all day long
That wishing well will sparkle and
your change will all be gone

But if you'd really like to see
your richest dreams come true
then toss a wish upon a friend
and they'll wish back to you

The moral of my story, son,
is simply this you see
If you want treasures in your life
then give them willingly"

How true!! What you give out will come back to you tenfold. Well done!! Chris

I like poems with words of wisdom....this has has that . I also like the meter and flow.

The wisdom of your words out shines that of most I've met. You have written a wonderful poem... Dan
