I slept better when DOS was around Before MS Windows came into town Days with no mice and pads on to scoot It was slashes and dashes or our ‘puter was moot A time of thick notebooks For codes we did look To find the files that got hidden In places that now were forbidden Before Icons when the Internet was new And experts on DOS they were few But a safer time it surly was to me Before a five year old could click, format C |

Ha, ha. This is good. I agree, I don't like it either when an OS doesn't tell me what it's doing or starts telling me what I can and cannot do with my computer. Fortunately, DOS is not dead yet. If you don't have it on your computer, I would be surprised. |

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think this one was given birth after a second cup of espresso. Yes mirror DOS is alive and well in my puter*S* I just took a poetic liberty or two. Death comes not when we cease to breathe, but when we cease to dream. |

GRIN - good humor. Does it show my age too much to still remember DOS so well? |

Thanks for that 'byte' of humor. I need something like this. Sleep doesn't come easily these days. |

Thanks again folks, Munda..thanks it was a fun little piece to write. Topheth yes I guess it does age us, but it has been a fun trip...thanks Charisma....It is always nice to fine an old friend, even if he is buried in the background *S* Mark: When I want a puter that is twice as fast...easier to use and does not freeze up twice a day I will get a Mac lol [This message has been edited by The Rusty Knight (edited 09-17-2001).] |
