who is this woman
who hates you so?
she hates the windows
to your angry soul,
she hates your self taught
need for control.
she hates your fingers
she hates your toes
and especially your mouth
and each and every mean
word that you speak,
and if it is possible
to hate, I mean really hate
someone's guts
well then she hates yours.

who is the woman?
she appears in great distress,
how can I help her, if I know her not?
my mind needs find for her a place-
a properly filed away space,
but I hardly recognize her
face so contorted by anger
and frustration,
and hate...

I look again for I cannot seem to
leave the pain in her eyes behind,
she reminds me of someone
I knew in my past,
someone who used to love
and smile and cuddle puppies
and suckle her babies...and
a cold reality sets in
and I gasp...
could this woman...
that I can hardly bear to see,
whose pain is felt as if my own
could she really
be me?

this is old, but it seems nothing has changed, *this* it seems is *my* battle, and so with clenched pen, I fight...sigh

jellybeans, the woman who can write down her feelings which come from her spirit...that is trying so hard to help you smile, that is the woman you are. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and allow the postive thoughts we all send to you, enter your heart. Hugs.

Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away.

My anger also wells up when around someone that thinks they can control and manipulate me...James

err, Jelly?  Please don't read my poem requesting maidenly assistance.  I've gotta feeling this would be really bad timing - lol.

As for your poem:  Yeah, I could see the end coming, but that made the poem all the more powerful, because it personalized it from third person to first, and that is indeed a sad progression.  Good luck, fine person.

Very well written JB. It's hard to look in the mirror sometimes. But seems you braved the change and rode out the tide of anger. Enjoyed the read.

Sincerely,
Regina

Who is this woman? A friend I treasure, a poet whose talent has grown exponentially, a survivor whose strength amazes me every day. Knowing her, I still can't help... but I'm so very grateful for the knowing. *S*
