If I were someone else's man
I'd always dress impeccably
No faded shirts or mis-matched socks
Or uncombed hair for her to see.
My fingernails would be clean
And shoes would sport a gleaming shine
Befitting such a Dapper Dan
If I were someone else's man.

If I were someone else's man
I'd jump to do each household task
I'd cut the grass, take out the trash
Before she'd have a chance to ask.
I'd never snore or belch in public
Causing her embarrassment
As crude, unruly actions can
If I were someone else's man.

If I were someone else's man
My libido would be robust.
Instead of lackadaisical
I'd be a creature filled with lust!
My passion would be limitless
And never would I turn away...
All this and more would be my plan
If I were someone else's man.

I took the road less traveled..now where the hell AM I???

There's an overwhelming sense of futility here, m'Deer... Too bad we sometimes can't appreciate what we already have, rather than looking for greener stuff.. Nicely written, as usual..

Balladeer~

If you were someone else's man
I'm sure it wouldn't take long
For the same old traits, you pontificate
To surface and make you wrong

If you were someone else's man
The complaints would probably be the same
Though they might have a different voice
But they'd never really change

For a tiger doesn't change his stripes
God knows yours are well in place
If you were someone else's man
You'd still wear the same handsome face
And she would love you anyway
Well, except on trash pick-up day !

*It's so gosh-darned good to see you~

Enjoyed this...I'm sure any woman would want you no matter what..that 'other man' sounds perfect, but most of us don't want perfection. We want REAL. It's nice to see you back.

Where ya been...golfing...spaming???
So good to read your rhymes dearest Deer...
this is a bittersweet beauty...and classic Deer cadence.
Dontcha stay away so long again, or I'll have Sy send Randy round and scorch your golfballs and Vienna Sausages *wink*

What a great read here. I'm sorry, I found it humorous (although I did see the truth behind it). Is it just me? Maybe it's just the mood I'm in. I've been out drinking beer

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

If you were someone else's man
I'd cry myself to sleep
My dreams would be so shattered
that I couldn't help but weep
If you were someone else's man
then all alone I'd be
I'd think about you all the time
Yep, that's a guarantee

but....

If you were this lady's  man
I'd love you as you are
I'd look beyond the clothes you wear
You'd be my shining star
I'd gladly comb your hair for you
And manicure your nails
I'd shine your shoes and darn your socks
While listening to your tales

If you were this lady's man
You'd have no household chores
I'd mow the lawn and dump the trash
While you watched football scores
And there's no way you'd ever be
Embarrassing to me
I'd be so proud to be with you
There'd be no stopping me

If you were this lady's man
My life would be complete
Your passion would be limitless
'Cause I'd be such a treat
So, come with me and be my man
I'll take good care of you
Just get yourself to Phoenix
Bid the other girls adieu!

heart, you have not truely met the poet."

I may not have the pretty words
To say just what I feel
So listen up you ole dog
Im willing to make a deal
I'll cook you all the Spam you want
But you gotta take out the trash
And mow the grass every now and again
Or I'll just feed you hash
As far as your libido goes
Theres no problem there
Im sure you'd be up to stuff
With my fingers in your hair
So get down off that soapbox
Grab your jeans and get to work
And I'll go bake you an apple pie...
...see I come with perks...

Oh, I've been waiting to see your name posted here Michael ... you never disappoint me. What a wonderful treat in cadence and rhyme. A lovely verse of anticipated want and desire, tinged with a slight sorrow between the lines, very much enjoyed! Now having said that, sweet Balladeer ...

*~*

I had an urge to change my name,
Officially, I now proclaim,
The other name I call myself …
Is first name "Someone", last name "Else".

'Deer

Let's explore for a moment, if we can
The possibilities of being someone else's man.
The wannabe list is long, it's true,
I'm sure we'll find someone just for you.

My friend, The Rock, would like a date,
He hasn't power slammed of late.
Perhaps you could be his boy-in-tow,
Before he tied your legs in a bow.

A match in heaven, Toerag and 'Deer
The way you two carry on in here.
I'm sure everyone agrees with this,
We'd love to see you makeup and kiss.

In reality, you've already found your love,
Your faithful one who you're fond of.
We've not a single doubt it's true.
Who is your love?  Why, it's you!

Hey there, you reprobate!  I love ya, too!  I also love the great responses from everybody else.  Especially those poetic ones.  What a welcome sight to see a poem by you when I came in here.

Well...I think you are your own man! And if the garbage piles up, and the grass grows above your head, and if....you know the thing about (In Bed) doesn't rise and shine in poetic rhyme...It could be the smell of garbage. And nothing else I'm sure!   But you write with great lift as far as I'm concerned!

If you were someone else's man
Would you be the same ole "deer"
Would there even be a "Passions"
If you never post your gems here.

If there is something personal
Hidden in the lines you've penned
I'd like to know who's responsible
And I'd sick Sy and Randy on them then.

I see sorrow in this piece
Even though it's filled w/ laughter & cheer
Let the women of Passions help you at least
B/C  Passions wouldn't be the same without "U" Mr. Deer.

From what I can tell, you're already the man of about twenty other women.  Your dance ticket is full.

First a hot shower you stinky thing
Then we'll make these fingers sing
They'll tease and torment into the night
And make you feel ooooohhhhh so right
Not to mention apple pie
that melts in your mouth and makes you sigh
So if you want these fingers walking
You better start doing more than talking
Pucker up and gimme a kiss
And "someone else" you'll never miss

Wistful wish makes woeful want
And all the anguish wrought
May not be greener meadows
Nor the joyful dream you thought
Don’t through away what good you have
Nor want what you have not
For you’ll be looking back and yearn
For what you now have got
But even so, you make the worst
Into a charming little verse
Love ya

Oh dear, oh dear sweet Balladeer

If you were someone elses man
and allways dressed impeccably
wearing matching socks and so
no dirt on your fingernails to see
jumping to each household task
not causing any embarrassment
I'm sure that one day you will ask
where the hell 'old' Balladeer went
and then there is no fun you see
in always dressing impeccably
no fun at all in limitless passions
no fun in belchless public sessions
you'll be longing for that 'old' time
when you wrote this smashing rhyme
