The haunting cries of the midnight loon, the trilling wail motif that fills the crisp air, and my mind wandering with wonder and in awe at the beauty God poured into this feathery creation. And my primeval screams and prayers are answered in the echo of the loon, my heart's delight. And I rest in peace knowing my loon spirit watches over me each night. |

I know what you mean. I used to have a cottage on a small lake that had the traditional two mates. Loons mate for life and live for a long long time. I still miss their erie throaty call whether warbling or the pure smooth scream.....beautiful creatures and like you say a gift from the grand creator! Nice work! |

Thank you so much for reading this. It sounds as if you know my loons. I also wrote a poem 'Yodeling Loon' which I haven't yet posted. Maybe it's time to set my loons free. And maybe it's time for you to sit by that lake again? |

... Et's see do I type here? ... Loon! I have never heard your wild, primeval cry, until today, now that I am almost deaf. But you remind me of a past and distant picnic beach, thirty-four years ago, in 1967, when I had perfect hearing, and and heard and felt ant tasted, hheard the seagull's cries, on that desirted, windy beach. Remember it like it was yesterday. Well it's not like I usually go around complaining about not hearing things, It's just that, sometimes, I go around complaining about not hearing things ... heeeheeeheee. Thank you for this one. I'm running the the fingers again... Jaime |

To Sunshine: Thanks for reading this. On Golden Pond was a great movie. I'm glad you've heard the magical cry of the loons. To Jaime: I will give you my favorite loon tunes, by audio or through poetry or prose as best I know how. And I would gladly give you one ear if it would let you hear these cries of the night that are so beautiful. |
