Slowly Fading

Oh my soul,

     Your light flickers dimly
     Not brilliant as before
     It was divinely comely,
     Something of local lore

     Now your light is tainted
     With worldly things of gain
     It grows evermore faint, as
     Your spirit-fire swoons and wanes

     Given over to carnal want
     Light blinks its last good-byes
     Changing from glory to gaunt
As your light acquiesces, and dies

     This little light of mine
     Said I'd let it shine
     This little light of mine
     Why'd I let it die?

Quod me nutrit me destruit.
("What nourishes me also destroys me." - latin)

I know this feeling well. Enjoyed the read even if it is sad.
