Rumbling grumble From the throats of clouds Protesting the slashing cut Of lightning hits my ears Long before the rain falls On fields bent in reverence Of passing wind Another storm to watch I remember a storm of youth When huddled beneath a bluff We watched the fury Felt the finality When it passed Soaked clothes shed We hung them on limbs Then played naked in water Now muddied Until holding you face to nose We kissed And eager fingers fumbled, Stuttered, found pleasure minds clutter freed we fell into each other Later dressing you turned modestly Away from eyes that devoured you only hours ago And your own windowed panes demurred As if now ashamed Things changed then No longer free with me You chose to avoid But I still watch storms And wonder if in the flash you see When lightning strikes close You know how close we came To being struck [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (edited 08-30-2001).] |

I love the subtle depth to this piece, Ron... it leaves a lasting impression, both with the senses and with the mind. Your stuff just keeps getting better & better! -MVS "It's all in the details -- the Big Picture always takes care of itself." |

I think that I could most echo Mark Sheldon and the one about bittersweet memories. |

Ok, I know I already said this, but I really like this, the ending strikes so strongly. You never forget such moments, or what might have been. Sandra |
