my spirit whispers in a voice not yet heard
to a lost and lonely world with words of life
showing them that they need not walk the path
as lonely and bitter travelers
but that the path can be walked
together with other ones in love and in spirit

when we begin, our parents are our guides
showing us the best roads to take,
the roads traveled by those who have gone before

we take our first steps on that path
and we follow along with the others
trying not to fall into the same traps as they
and at the same time, trying to forge our own path

as we find those other paths,
we leave our first guides, thanking them
and going off on our own to work our way through

during this time, we find other guides to direct us
other people to share the way with us
other voices to sing the songs of our hearts
other steps to follow along the path

sometimes, those paths lead to dead ends
and we find that we must turn around and go back
but, we remember that we have a responsibility to
those that would follow us down that path
to tell them that this is not the way
and we begin again. . . knowing that we will find the right path

and so, we continue
we continue because we must, because we can
because our spirit drives us, our hearts drive us
the love that we have inside those hearts drives us
to be better, to find that one path that is ours
and to find someone to share that path with us

and, when we find that fellow traveler,
our path is no longer a path
but a road to happiness

the road to love. . .

I really like this a lot Sven.....As children we are loved and given guidelines so we realize the vallue of love....As we mature we seek other kinds of love and find that on that road to love we have a great need to fulfill.......a desire to be loved and to give love.

I really enjoyed the open and wise way you presented this and it was such an enjoyable read!!

Too true Sven!  We all journery through life on that 'road to love'.  The secret is (I think) not to become one of those disappointed, bitter individuals we meet along the way...
Loved this one..

Oh yes, there are many paths, and if they would all lead us to love, we would be doing well.
Nicely put, my friend.

The road to love hard specially when you find it but it hurts so good. It's a basic need for most. Love this one.

Wouldn't it be great if when we were born, we arrived with a premapped course that said 'you are here'...proceed thus towards the 'road to love'.  Maybe then we wouldn't take so many wrong turns along the way.

Hiya, Beautiful Heart!   I love this, yanno? It speaks of hope. One thing though..I think your spirit (if it is yours you speak of) talks to us through your poetry, so i don't think its voice is unheard, my friend.
