How you've cast me upon strength
For my limbs have failed me
Swooning in deepest caverns of love

Though our journey has just begun
I cannot leave thee from my lips
Saving me in my capture, my tomb

You are here with me now and I beg
To kiss your brow close to temple
To feel the rhythm of both heart and mind

Please, hearken to my whisper. Hear my
Soul beat through breast of silk
If thee would only lay down thy armaments

Cast your feigned metal barrier aside
Let me see the texture of your skin
The true power of flesh against flesh

I care not for castling and recovery
Let us make use of earth's magnitude
First, here beneath the olive tree of appetite

I surrender to you all that you rescued
Everything that made your efforts strong
Everything that made you gallant, weak

And I will find wisdom in my longing
To walk beside your steed, carrying
That which is the true seed of valiance

This piece of writing reminds me so much of Romeo & Juliet - such a beautiful tale of romance.  You capture the essence of romance so very well.  I loved this! Take care....Sue

this is excellent Regina...
the imagery and the vocabulary add to the classic old style romantic essence of this.
Your poetry, your talent has so many facets.
You write well in many styles and on many  varied subjects.
way cool
well done too

Sue: I believe you are much better than you know, but I'm thrilled at your kind words.

Catalinamoon: Thank you so much. Wow! You encourage me so.

Janet: Thank you for tolerating my reach. As I am constantly trying to find that word, that style, that makes me, me. I am so grateful to have this forum to try my pen.

Marge: Much appreciation. You encourage the best in anyone.

Sincerely,
Regina

Regina, I am in awe. You seem to be able to turn your pen to any style so easily. I loved this.
