Listening to every heart

Walking the Plains of the Past

having lived so
long before
knowing I’d been
taken by amour
would not surprise
me any more
having you show
at portal’s door
of my shadow’s past
nor to see your
shadows cast
aside dreams of
yesteryear
nor to feel your
calming near

it is rootbound of
my green
that causes me to
see come dream
of all of those
other days
as I seek beyond
vast of haze
midwest about
me plays

having discovered
this long ago
that I was here in
flesh, still, so
some hundred years
or more, I know

having trekked
forever’s mile
along planes of
time
coming home
after awhile
to that which
is mine
see yon house
my feet ne’er tread
but walked in claim,
my own homestead,
turning corners
knowing where
each footfall
on the stair
would creak,
as lumber strong
has gone weak

carried through
rooms recalled
yes, I know them well,
beloved halls
paintings hung
portraits smiled
glassed knobs
on doors
held my warmth
awhile
not sure of when
but long gone cold,
seek then trunk in
attic’s hold
to be opened, brought
on down, now
see a wisp of girl
in sepia’s brown
smiling at recall
dreaming of futures’
when

this is me, my
yesteryear,
having traversed
plains that
call me back
this is me,
and I am near
walking the plains
of the past

these lines really got to me....wow, do you know I felt like that wisp of a girl
dreaming....I still do!  Thank you for this.

this seems so familiar to me, have you posted this before?! I love it. I love the feel of it, the memory of it.

I'm not sure what it is about these lines in particular but they gave me a feeling of familiar contentment.  Thanks for the view.

Thank you so much for taking a walk on the plains of the past. Just felt I was walking beside you.

Sunshine--You are so good at the gentle ladder of rhyme decending back in time.  I loved this!

Ahh, and the roots travel so deep, through time, other places, but most are still the same, as we do know, as we feel. And dream? or memories? ahh, who ever knows...loved this..very gentle smile
