Tranquility

whispering wind of salty air
ocean breeze so warm and fair
heavenly sunset against the sea
silence embraces all beauty

gentle waves flow slowly tossing
leads in sails gradual crossing
heading out in ocean wide
bow moves onward in great pride

raise the mainsail strong and tall
softly moving to his call
moving across methodically
splashing waves periodically

raise the jib for a little more fun
as he and the ocean soon become one
sailing across the ocean blue
a dream he knows he must pursue

feeling free in the salty air
nothing in the world compares
sunset slowly turning dim
darkness gently comes within

bringing with it tranquil peace
one with nature will never cease
sitting sternside he drinks it in
thanking God for all he's given

resting in the magical illusion
he ponders sitting in seclusion
happiness and joy engulf his soul
bringing felicity and making him whole

"Tranquility". Truly lovely piece you have written here. Excellent.

I love this poem, one of my favorites too. You do an excellent job of describing the undescribable.  Reading it brings back memories of past trips and feelings, and excitement of what the next trip will hold, thanks.  One day we will go sailing.

Very impressive work, Cindi.  I liked the flow that you created for it, it was very appropriate to the setting... you have advanced form, as you demonstrate herein -  you use iambic tetrameter as a guide for the sound, and not a rule for the syllables.  It all turned out very nice.
Great imagery... this appealed to my senses.  Nice to read some "recreational" poetry for a change!

Congrats on the 500 WOW

I enjoyed this poem and your ability to inject nautical term without disrupting the flow.
