Brindled mud
Slides between toes
Bare footedly sunk
Into now wet furrows

Silky slow sliding
Of sole a game

To remain standing
After the others fall

Garden hose
In Victors hand
Faces losers
Who have to
Stand

Kids games
But the lessons
The same…

Sometimes
Its hard to keep
From falling

And sometimes
We get hosed

Love the metaphor CH---not sure if I was supposed to find humor in it, but I did anyhow...but then, I'm slightly warped. Now, mud wrestling, anyone?

Deca: Thanks..last line was intended for just that reason...glad it worked

Serenity: If you found humor in this...then you also found my warped sense of humor... glad you enjoyed. As for mud wrestling..best two out three or three out of five falls??
No eye gouging, no hair pulling, and no scratching... ready??

ah, yes, if you stand in the mud, you're likely to get mucked up...love those last two lines, too!!!
but then, if you always stay clean, then what have you experienced in growth and in kindness to others?

I enjoy your sparse style and illustrations of life lessons. Nice sense of irony, too.

hehe    I love it!  Brings back memories for sure.  If it rains anytime soon, I will be so happy that I may very well go dance in mud puddles!  Thanks for the smile with this clever and deep write!
