What has become of our marriage that was once filled with so much love We've become lost in the loneliness of one another We have become strangers merely living under the same canopy - void of love Love has long since departed no longer to be found at this address My mind desperately searches for distant memories of us when we first met merely as friends only to see love bloom into such a beautiful bouquet The flowers of love have now wilted and blown away with the wind Maybe we should end this union between us before we start to resent each other and the strangers we have become But maybe we can just lower our masks one last time in the hope that we may catch a glimpse of the look of love we once saw in each others eyes Suetang |

tough realizations...but it may be possible the love is not gone..but merely covered with layers of living...and that they can be peeled back...to reveal again what you once felt and had.. I hope so...but if not.. then yes parting before the resentment and bitterness takes hold could at least allow there to be a friendship... perhaps... Nicely said... |

Sue, I have to tell you, I am right there with you. It is sad to see it happen, but I don't know if it can be pulled back to the beginning. It seems not, in my case. Good luck. Nice write. Sandra |

I liked Logans response the best..maybe it is just covererd by layers of living.. ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". |

Sue, if this is more than a poem, then do all you can to make sure that every step forward is one that will be mutually important... I know that sounds a little awkward, but sometimes we just go through those "cycles" and as Logan says, perhaps you can get through the living to find one another again... you are in my thoughts and prayers... |

A difficult place to be, indeed. Layers of living, yes, but more than that I think. Taking each other for granted, not paying attention, not even noticing . . . And we change, we grow, but maybe in divergence and not together. And I think loneliness is always there, beneath everything else. Not to mention the physiology of aging . . . I enjoyed your treatment of this difficult topic. "As soon as the generals and the politicos can predict the motions of your mind, lose it." Wendell Berry |

I think when we fail to appreciate what we have and act accordingly we are in danger of losing what we have...and sometimes that is totally out of our control because we only have possession of our actions...James |
