The Greatest Love - A Sonnet The greatest love the world has ever known Is written in the pages of a dream The story has a spirit of its own That lives along a gentle winding stream Oh, Avon, won’t you tell us once again Recite the phrases heard by Romeo The words that gently poured from poet’s pen Just as the tranquil drift of water’s flow Immortal love, that lives within us all Seducing hearts that hear his written lines In truth, it is the phrases we recall A fantasy of love the word defines The greatest love the world has truly known Is ours, the lustrous passion of our own Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 08-14-2001).] |
