The Rail Fence

If I had known that space and cedar
Could hold as well as stone, or better,
The things I might entrust to pasture,
I would have saved myself some ache
And taken off the afternoon
To write a friend
Or watch a brook.
It's been some time since I last sat
To just enjoy the look of water.
I should do that.
As for the other ......
