When asked where he was from, he replied: "A small town near Pittsburgh" he said while seated at my side. The town of rolling hills, where mining still reigns. Home of blue collar workers and whistling trains. There was a wisdom I sensed from deep within And in time he grew to be more than just a close friend. He told me stories about his home town His roots of pride had run deep, I had found. In time I felt myself mesmerized with stories so true And became lost in his eyes, pools of pure blue. There were stories of Vietnam and friends lost along the way. And somewhere I fell in love with him that day. I fell in love with the man from Pittsburgh whose heart was so true As sure as I fell in love with his stories and his hometown too. |
