~This is dedicated to all the "surviviors" of child abuse and to all the children still being abused. I will always fight to cease this injustice, and this poem is not meant to offend, but, rather live as a reminder to everyone~ ~ ~ ~ Children Of An Absent God ~*By Melissa P. Monette*~ They are the forgotten screaming in misery in the silence of an absent God cradling his precious little ones while daddy forces their bodies upon a hot stove Innocence shatters in mosaic of scars from fist once loved, sweet eyes weep in confusion of black and blue staining sores across the soul seeping into cigarette burn holes emblazoned across the skin beaten and broken Darkness sodomizes hope to nothingness teddy bears tatter to blood-stained floors skipping ropes fray in the stale of day at the edges of molested dreams and mangled memories They are the forgotten... screaming in agony, they are the statistics in a series of numbers who found no end at the pale of a rainbow bruised colourless Until there's a cure... bandaids aren't enough and God still cries for the little ones dying to be free |

You don't need to remind me, they are not forgotten and never shall be. God bless you and every small sweet little child who ever smiled an innocent, trusting smile. " I walked beside the evening sea And dreamed a dream that could not be" George William Curtis" |

God, this is so sad, and how horrible that it is true. Good for you for not letting these babes be forgotten Sandra |

You touch on a subject dear to my heart, I have 2 children and my heart grieves for every fatal story of abused children I read in the paper every day. You write very honestly and I only hope people realize that this is a problem that must never be forgotton. Thank you for presenting this in this light. |

Melissa, Sadly messages like this one have to be made. And you made it with force. Very well written. And my heart go out to the children who have been abused and to the adults they grow to be. Abuse never leaves... it haunts. TaraB |

Goodness, Miss Honeybee... this poem certainly strikes a chord. A very touchy issue, outlined by your talent in writing. Excellent work, my friend. I found the feelings in this poem were described so well that the experience seemed all that much more real to everyone. This does happen. Thank you for bringing this to light. And I commend you on being brave in your use of the word "God" in the poem. It added a marvelous impact, as I know it's a popular thought among child abuse victims (that God has forgotten them). Wonderful work, Melissa. Yours, ~Allan Blood Moon |

The wretchedness of this truth is more than I can comprehend. I do not understand how wild animals care for their young in better ways than some humans do. Your message is a stronghold that we (those that do care) are here. And within our circle of awareness, we shall let no one harm a child. May that circle be strung thru the universe. And God help us all. Thank you. Sincerely, Regina |

I also commend you on this poem. God has forgotten nothing. Poeple often choose God to blame for the troubles of this world. How unfortunate it is we must live with these horrid crimes and we are often not patient enough to realize God has a plan. I am often comforted by a promise God made "vengence is mine thus sayeth the lord." God will punish the offenders of his children! I wonder sometimes; is God sad, or is God really pissed off. peace love and understanding...wpwpoet ps please send my million monopoly dollars to... wpwpoet@boardwalk/onthebeach/fishing.com |

Written with much feelings and aching dark wrenching truth. I could feel the anquish in every stroke of your poetic pen. This should be sent to be printed and read by all those that need to hear. These vivid graphics are truely awesome. Your talent shows. I applaud a creative painful write. Love and peace Maggie ((~.~)) |

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this poem, I didn't expect too many replies To those who were unsure: This poem is actually not about insulting God at all, I am saying that He is absent because the abuse still continues and children still die, but I do say that God does cry and does feel the child's pain and does "cradle his precious little ones." I am not religious, but God gave us free-will and sadly He cannot stop child abuse for us, we have to stop it ourselves. Hence, He is absent in that sense. Child abuse will always be a controversial subject to write about, but, this is an issue that I am very passionate about, I will not go into personal details, but, I know all too well how devastating child abuse is. "Poetry is not an opinion expressed... |
