New and Old Twenty strokes tore stripes across my back Agony by number to match the count of days our limbs locked in wanton harness A price I pay without thought for the swell of your person to cover me again Be quick my sage heart bare your lace and know me as new and old together at once The night spends itself without mercy daylight finds me bleeding Willie ©2001 |
