Strings Cut Selfish strings attached to my heart you exploit and tug at each sacred part convincing me that I need approval to claim my worth forced to become your breath of re-birth, I am the ear of reason absorbing insecurity and in return it finds a nesting place to fester inside of me time and time again, I'm ever so eager to satisfy and you drink of my spirit, then leave me to cry I'm shrouded by confusion in this disease to please I reach for a guiding hand as I drown in lonely seas friendships made on fairweather, bruises my heart abused now I find strength within, dulling the aftertaste of being used By Melissa P. Melissa, this is perfect, the feeling comes through loudly. Sorry if you are going through a bad time. You have only to look at any of my poems from last year to see that I totally understand. Take care. Sandra |

Ron and Sandra~ Thank you for your replies and for understanding my feelings. I wrote this poem a few days ago because I finally had to get these emotions out. Although I have some very close friends whom I trust completely and whom I would do anything for, I also have come to realize that I have friends who are not truly my real friends, who only care about me when they can get something in return~ Melissa~ |

It is never easy to accept that there are those that will turn on the friendships formed at the drop of a hat but then come back when it is they who need you. Hold your head up and smile knowing that you are much better than they and that one day you will have the chance to show them the "REAL" meaning of friendship. Well written and voiced. |

melissa, your recent poems always stir up emotions plenty...this is no exception... i applaud you as a writer who dares to cut to the core of herself and write herself in inanimate sentences... |
